About Sam

Sam Ryan

I’m a graduate student at the University of Washington School of Information in Seattle, working towards an MS in Information Management. I’m focusing on user experience design and information architecture, with a particular interest in making things for the web and mobile devices. Last quarter I took classes on project management, design methods, and systems analysis. In January, I started another round of courses on XML, management, and knowledge organization.

For about a year and a half I worked as a front-end web developer and social media consultant at the Haas School of Business in Berkeley. I’m now helping out with development part-time at Bio-Link.org and the Commuter Services department at UW.

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in history. Along the way, I taught a class on Bob Dylan, met lots of interesting people, and wrote a senior thesis on the role of boys and young men in the buildup to the American Revolution. I took classes on diverse topics from astronomy to journalism, but tried to focus on early America and the history of information.

Whenever I have time, I read books.
