Good poems about nature and the simple life. Gary Snyder (Japhy from The Dharma Bums) is a Zen Buddhist, a California mountain man, and one of the last surviving Beats. He’s kind of famous around California, especially in older crowds, for his environmentalism and deep, deep cool. His poetry is occasionally uncomfortably weird, which I guess is a good thing for poetry to be, but it’s also generally eye-opening and great fun to read.
