Hunting the Grisly and Other Sketches

★★★☆☆

Review:

A now-obscure collection of Roosevelt’s favorite wilderness stories and essays. The chapter on hunting grizzly bears, which he also calls “Old Ephraim” and “the Grisly,” is especially entertaining. This book brings out the conflict between the naturalist and the bloodthirsty hunter in Roosevelt.
