Spot-on historical fiction covering the first decades of the Roman Empire from the perspective of a stuttering emperor. It was suspenseful, well-paced, occasionally hilarious. It’s hard to keep track of all the family trees, however, and I occasionally forgot who some of the characters were (a semester after taking a class on this stuff.) Recommended if you liked HBO’s “Rome” series.
